Our Annual Events
The Coalport Community Decorating Committee must re-organize on April 13, 2023, in order to have adequate time to find entertainment, crafters and food trucks for the 2023 Coalport Street Fair, which is tentatively set to be held on June 17th, 2023.
We are in desperate need of local and surrounding businesses, residents, individuals, clubs and organizations, churches and anyone who wants to help us try to salvage the whole "Old Home Week" concept. We may be able to recover and rebuild from the 2022 Coalport Street Fair cancellation due to lack of volunteers.
We need your help!
You are invited to attend the meeting, which is going to be held at the Coalport Borough Building at 6 pm on April 13th, 2023. If a board is selected, committees will be organized immediately after the meeting and duties split amongst those interested.
We need your help!
In the past, one, two or three women folded letters, hand wrote envelopes and licked stamps to mail to the crafters, food trucks, residents and business asking for them to participate donate and sponsor the Kids Korner, the entertainment or general expenses.
Those same ladies also travelled to Altoona, Curwensville, Clearfield, Dubois and other towns asking the big box stores and local small businesses for donations for the "Giant Crazy Auction." Sometimes they had to make a second trip to pick up an item that was donated.
Those ladies are getting up in age and have health issues affecting their ability to do everything they used to.
We need your help!
The 2021 Coalport Street Fair that was held had over 130 baskets. Two ladies wrapped every basket and set them up the morning of the Street Fair. One lady was making the calls until after 8 pm to the winners and waited if they wanted to pick it up that night. A few local volunteers but they never were seen attending a monthly meeting of the Decorating Committee. The "Giant Crazy Auction" will probably be much smaller this year.
A husband and wife team along with their kids and church family set up and ran the Kids Korner by themselves with no breaks. One of the kids suffered heat stroke. No local volunteers. The Kids Korner will probably be much smaller this year.
We need your help!
If you can donate your time helping with administrative duties it would be greatly appreciated. If you can make a monetary donation your generosity will be greatly appreciated. If every resident, business, individual, club and church in the Glendale Valley area would come and work together we can will guarantee the 2023 Coalport Street Fair is successful.
We need your help!
Sincerely,
Coalport Community Decorating Committee
